Dollar Store Finds: For Grooming Your Horse
Trim your horse-keeping expenses by buying some of your incidentals at your local dollar store.
Many items found at dollar stores can be useful around the barn, particularly for grooming.
It may take a little digging but you can find many non-horse-specific barn incidentals at your local dollar store—or other discounters—that can do the job and save you a significant amount of money in the long run. So here’s our list—start with these items and then see what else you can find!
· Baby oil to highlight a horse’s muzzle before entering the show ring. It may also be helpful in removing burrs from manes and tails.
· Spray bottle to apply everything from fly repellent to coat conditioner. Given how often they are used, we probably should have picked up a few more.
· Small caddy to store bathing supplies such as shampoo and sponges.
· A hairbrush to detangle manes and tails (or for scratching itchy withers).
